USED ON SURFACES SUCH AS: Steel, Sheetrock, Wood, Lath and Plaster, Concrete, Sheet Metal, Tin, Foam, Composite Panels, Fibreglass, Carbon Gaphite
Intumescent paint, intumescent coatings, or fire retardant paint all have the same goal, to stop fire damaging and heating the surface underneath the paint. Temperatures found in a fire situation cause the intumescent paint to swell and produce an insulating barrier that restricts the rate of increase in temperature of the substance underneath. So by keeping a steel beam cooler and restricting fire damage the beam can retain its structural integrity. But thats not all Intumescent paint will do for you. Intumescent paint will restrict deadly gasses from being released and potentially causing harm to occupants of a building. It will also restrict the gasses from rising to the ceiling and igniting causing a "Flash Over" effect. By doing this the intumescent paint doesn't allow the contents of a room to fuel the fire and in effect it starves the fire and resricts it to its room of origin.
Whether you are an architect, specifier or engineer we can supply an intumescent paint that will provide up to 2 hours fire protection and prolong the structural integrity of steel when faced with a fire. Water and solvent based intumescent coatings are available to meet your specific fire protection needs. When it comes to intumescent coatings low film thicknesses and fire rating time are extremely important. By providing intumescent paint with low film thicknesses we can shorten application time and lower cost while giving you the required amount of fire rating.
Firepaint can supply you with a full intumescent coating system applied on-site or off-site. Qualified applicators are used to ensure the quality of the intumescent paint system is not compromised. Certifire can inspect the application to provide additional documentation if required.
