FirePaint can supply you with intumescnet paints to be applied on almost any surface and applied as easily as normal paint. Some of the surfaces suitable for intumescent paint include, Steel, Sheetrock, Wood, Lath and Plaster, Concrete, Sheet Metal, Tin, Foam, Composite Panels, Fibreglass, Carbon Gaphite. The intumescent paint we supply is also water based and non toxic, which means a minimal disruption to occupants in the application process.
Intumescent paint reacts to the high temperatures of a fire and swells to many times its original thickness. This forms an insulating barrier, which can prevent fire penetration for up to 2 hours and dramatically slows the increase in temperature of the object which has been coated. Secondly, the intumescent coating will slow the spread of flames both horizontally and prevent vertical flame flashover. This prevents room materials from becoming fuel to the fire and contains the fire to the room of origin. The intumescent paint will also reduce the amount of smoke generated from a fire giving you extra fire protection.

Since the intumescent coating generally contains the fire to the room of origin, the potential fire damage to the studs and ceiling joints in a structure, is dramatically reduced preventing structural collapse and allowing fire-fighters the extra safety to fight the fire from the inside.
A brush, roller or sprayer can be used to apply our intumescent coatings, being a water based latex, no special equipment is required, minimum time is needed for clean up (just water) and the paints can be tinted to any colour. The intumescent paint can be applied over most existing paint and wallpaper or other paint can be applied over the intumescent coating.
